May God grant you all peace and leave as you go about your evening! God bless each and every one of you, regardless of the nations you reside in. God has continued to bless this blog by having people from over 60 countries view it.
When was the last time you got off of your couch and invited someone to Church? In America, and the world, we have this distinct way of becoming complacent! So here’s my plea to you! As Paul challenges the Church of Galatia, I’m going to challenge you to quit being lazy and thinking what man thinks…and go invite someone to Church. Let’s all advance the Kingdom of God!
The Church of Galatia thought that salvation, because of religious elders, came from Jesus and man. However, we know this to be wrong! So aren’t we doing the same thing today? Putting the thoughts of man in parallel with the thoughts of God?
3 Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
This section is like Mom telling you to do your dishes several times, showing you how to do the dishes, and….you never do the dishes. Paul is somewhat patiently reassuring the Galatians, that this is how things are supposed to be done. Your mom is obviously annoyed with you, but not exactly letting you know it directly. It adds a sense of urgency to the situation.
But the Galatians were practicing something completely far off, let’s delve into the rest….
6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
The Galatians practiced that salvation had to occur through Jesus and through man (circumcision). Just like we do through idols in today’s society, placing them on the same level as God.
Here’s how we know the Galatians confusion:
Galatians 2:12 “For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.”
But we know that this is not the way to salvation:
Galatians 2:16 “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even when we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Romans 3:28 “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law”
It’s safe to say that Paul, the writer, is very shocked they have deserted the good news and brought forth some ridiculousness.
If you do NOT get anything out of the message, at least get this:
Let us, the body of Christ, survive and advance the Kingdom of God to the best of our ability! Not in the way of man, but in the way of Him. Please, I beg of you, to let’s serve God in all that we do! Let us build the bride of Christ and reach all people!
