2 Corinthians 8:7 But as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, and in all eagerness and in the love from us that is in you—make sure that you excel in this act of kindness too. (NET)
That is an extremely powerful passage. This basically is just saying that just because you can excel in everything in life…doesn’t mean that you bypass the kindness. Show chivalry to everyone. Be kind, make sure that everyone sees the kindness in you. Thus showing them what the Lord can do through you. Once you start, it will be hard to stop, the acts of kindness, giving, and blessing others are quite contagious. You’ll literally be thinking through every opportunity that there is to help another human being with any sort of issue, and acting on it. If it’s just simply holding the door open for them, or if it’s helping them with an issue or problem, maybe it’s giving them a ride, or maybe it consists of blessing them financially. Just don’t give yourself the self gratification, because all glory goes to God. ALL GLORY GOES TO GOD. God is the one who put you in the situation to have the blessings that you do have. We are to display the same grace to others as Jesus has done for us.
Keep in mind, I am not just saying this for societal application and morality galore, but Jesus himself says that the two greatest commandments are as follows:
It’s really fascinating the way God works in our lives, but the one thing He wants out of us most importantly is to love Him with all that we have. God rewards us for this love, we must stay humble in all that we do, because fundamentally our blessings come from Him (not the world). You see, we cannot even breathe without God, something as simple and important as breathing is impossible without our loving God. How do I know this??
Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is flesh: his days shall be 120 years.” (Genesis 6:3)
Once you become one of His children, you will notice yourself doing more and more of these things. I like to write this blog to further my relationship with God and dig deeper into the meanings of what the Bible has too offer. I truly enjoy this gift and platform God has given me. But also remember that the Bible teaches that you must do things as if you were submitting them to the Lord. Thus, in order for you to excel in everything, you must remember that all your work you do must be done as if you were turning it into God. This is also intriguing, because as Christians we can’t half way do anything. I don’t care if it’s fixing your own food, doing a reading for HW, or even taking a college course. You MUST give it 100% or otherwise consider your job as not complete or failed. God knows everything in this Universe, trust me, He understands intentionality. That’s something I believe everyone struggles with, because once you do achieve that greatness and are making those stellar grades due to hard work, you have to perform a reality check and realize that God gets the glory and you do not deserve any. It is those times, we often get complacent. These things may be difficult, but if we can remain humble…one day God will reward us with pleasures beyond imaginable! A day where we live in the dream place called Heaven! This being humble, being kind, and blessing others doesn’t just include with the wallet (some preach it does) but also in the world. Some may not be able to assist with their wallets, but can offer the world the kindness and joy a true Christ believer would radiant. That my friend is what the world needs, true God-like radiance amongst the peoples of the world.
It’s just another way to serve an amazing God who gives you the opportunity to live on His beautiful creation, then one day going to Heaven…then home of God. How neat is it that one day we WILL stand face to face with a supernatural, all powerful, all merciful Lord? I can’t put the words that match my excitement that one day it will happen. I know I’ve sort of went off on a tangent here, but gracious it’s an exciting thing. It’s just so important that you remain humble and remember that God gets the glory, not you. It’s important to remember that you must give it your all and submit all work to the Lord before anyone else. It’s more important to realize that once you’ve excelled in everything in life that you must remain kind, considerate, and assist others so they can achieve greatness with God’s help. You must not abuse power, you must do the right things, and most of all remain as humble as humanly possible. This humble state of mind will allow you to truly cherish God’s blessings and not take advantage of them. It sounds SO SIMPLE, but it’s something we all struggle with…me included. I just try my hardest to grow closer and closer each day, but there are days where it seems impossible to grow. I can’t possibly take any credit for my doings here. I will end on a quick note. Please remember, God is your number one priority, no matter how hard that may seem at the time, He really is #1. That’s hard for me, for you, for preachers, and for EVERYONE. Nobody or nothing comes before your relationship with the Lord. He will never leave nor forsake you, always remember that. Thank you for taking the time to read this over! GOD BLESS!
